KIEV:  Ukraine's Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova announced that the bodies of 410 civilians killed in Bucha, some 60 kilometres from Kiev, had been taken to be inspected by forensic experts, with any evidence acquired being recorded for the continuing prosecution of Russian war crimes.

According to Ukrayinska Pravda, Venediktova stated on social media that professionals from the forensic bureau will undertake DNA exams, autopsies, and body sampling.

She stated that 140 of the 410 bodies found between April 1-3 have already been reviewed by prosecutors and other experts.

There is "crucial proof of heinous war crimes done by the Russian Federation in the freed lands of the Kiev region," according to the Prosecutor General. "In order to punish its horrible perpetrators, this torment must be chronicled." On April 2, Russian forces liberated Bucha, as well as Monastyrskyi, Irpin, Hostomel, Borodyanka, Makariv, Kopyliv, and Motyzhyn, all in the Kiev region.  Later that day, Bucha Mayor Anatoliy Fedoruk revealed that a mass grave in the city had been uncovered, burying nearly 300 bodies.
