KIEV: Ukraine's negotiating position in the peace talks with Russia has not altered, according to David Arakhamia, the chairman of the Ukrainian team.

"The Ukrainian side has not modified its position on the Istanbul Communique," Arakhamia stated on Telegram.

The only difference is that the Ukrainian side ignores all of the other issues that were not addressed in the Istanbul Communique. According to reports, this may have resulted in a misconception of the current situation of the negotiations.

According to Arakhamia, online meet on Ukraine's security guarantees are still ongoing. Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Ukraine has changed its position since the peace negotiations in Istanbul last month.

Meanwhile, On Tuesday, Russian troops stepped up their assault on Mariupol, a port city in eastern Ukraine, as part of a huge attack that the US has warned could include the use of chemical weapons.
