Today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will address the United States Senate. The president of Ukraine is set to speak with US senators via Zoom calls.
According to reports, US senators have urged President of the United States of America Joe Biden to take strict actions against Russia. They asked that Russia's oil imports be halted by the US President. The White House has dismissed the idea of restricting oil imports. The White House believed that by prohibiting Russia's oil shipments, oil prices would rise, harming US consumers.
It was also reported that Republican Senator Lindsey Graham called for “somebody in Russia” to assassinate President Vladimir Putin. While Ukrainian President Zelensky has requested NATO to impose a no-fly zone above Ukraine to prevent Russian planes from attacking the country.
The Joe Biden administration also ruled this out. The appeal of Ukraine's president was denied, fearing that the move might precipitate an all-out conflict between the West and Russia. However, some members of Congress in the United States have shown support for the alternative.
