BHOPAL: Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti has taken up the fight against the Shivraj government over the selling of liquor in residential colonies once again. In a new movement, Bharti squatted in front of a liquor shop in Bhopal on Tuesday night to protest the selling of liquor.

Bharti's actions stunned a big crowd of people who had congregated outside Ashima Mall in the Misrod police station area to buy liquor from a wine shop. She and her followers sat in protest, prompting the shop's owner to close the doors. Local cops were dispatched to the scene.

Bharti left the scene after a half-hour protest, warning police officers and liquor store owners that she would return in three days and protest all night. "I disagree with the state government's decision to allow booze stores to open in public places. Women are suffering, and families are being destroyed as a result of the alcohol and drug abuse "Bharti explained.

Bharti said she had been waiting for the state government to respond for a month and a half, but they had ignored her concerns. "I've also sent this message to Delhi, and I'm confident that a solution will be found soon. I had requested that the government prohibit the selling of alcoholic beverages near schools, residential colonies, and public spaces. I have waited long enough, and now it's time to act, "Bharti said.

Bharti had smashed liquor bottles at a wine shop in Bhopal one-and-a-half months prior, and she had criticised the Chief Minister.
