London: While Bairstow's dismissal in the second Ashes Test has continued to generate attention on social media, legendary umpire Simon Taufel expressed his opinions.

A few incidents marred the strong battle the two teams displayed in the second Ashes Test at Lord's, which Australia won by 43 runs to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. Instead, there was a lot of heated discussion over the "spirit of cricket" on social media, with Jonny Bairstow's dismissal in the second innings being the most popular subject.

Although Alex Carey, the Australia wicketkeeper, correctly dismissed Bairstow for 10, the England team believed it lacked sportsmanship. Ben Stokes of England remarked that he would not have wanted to win a Test match in such a way as captain before adding that he would have dropped the run-out plea.

Brendon McCullum, the England coach, expressed similar sentiments and stated that he does not see the two teams "having beer together any time soon."

Simon Taufel, a great umpire, has offered his opinions on the topic while social media and England cricket fans are still talking about it. According to Taufel, England did not agree with the third umpire's decision to deem Bairstow out, which one could argue also marked the game's turning moment.

Correct judgment was made, Taufel stated in an interview with ABC Sydney Mornings. Simply put, they (England) didn't like it. Both teams must overlook the fact that the ball is in play for it to be declared dead after the over or even after delivery. The fielding side had obviously not.

Examining what actually occurred demonstrates that Taufel's opinions are valid. While the ball was still in play, Bairstow casually walked to the other end after dodging a short ball by Cameron Green. Many people, including Ravichandran Ashwin, praised Alex Carey for his excellent game sense when he retrieved the ball and took a hit at the stumps before knocking it after the Australians made the appeal.

Bairstow was taken aback by the incident, believed the ball was lost, and was forced to make the uncomfortable long trek back to the pavilion.
