Katni: A major accident took place in Katni district of MP late on Saturday evening. The underground tunnel being constructed under the Narmada Valley project in Katni district has collapsed, leaving many labourers working inside. The jawans of the State Disaster Response Force have reached the spot. Relief and rescue operations have been started. CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has discussed with the collector and took information about the accident. At the same time, the local administration said that nine workers were trapped due to the collapse of the under-construction tunnel. Out of these, 5 workers have been rescued. Efforts are being made to rescue 4 workers.
According to reports, the incident took place in Sleemanabad in Katni district. It is being said that the work of constructing a tunnel on the right bank of the river was going on under the Narmada Valley Project in Sleemanabad. Due to the work of construction of an underground tunnel from Bargi Dam to Bansagar on river Narmada, the soil caved in due to which 9 labourers working below were trapped.
At the very beginning, 3 workers were safely evacuated. It is being said that a rescue operation is going on to evacuate the workers trapped inside the tunnel. It is being said that it is taking time because of the trapping of other workers in the depths. It's nighttime from above. The Collector and superintendent of police have also reached the spot and are looking after the rescue operation. Rescue operation is being carried out by making shafts to evacuate 9 workers trapped in the tunnel. CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has taken cognizance of the incident in Sleemanabad. He discussed the call with the Collector of Katni and took information about the incident. The collector also informed Chief Minister Shivraj about the rescue operation. CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed for proper treatment of the labourers injured in the accident.
