Union Budget is people-friendly and growth centric: Assam CM

Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman present Union budget 2021 yesterday. She announced many schemes for the welfare of the business and people.  Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday termed the Union as pragmatic, people-friendly and development-oriented.

The Assam CM thanked the Centre for the allocation of Rs 34,000 crore in the budget for the construction of more than 1,300 kms of national highways in the state in the next three years.He said that National Highway works with the proposed investment of Rs 19,000 crore are currently in progress in Assam and have already given a major boost to road connectivity in the state. Cm also priased the new initiative proposed in the Budget for the welfare of tea workers, especially women and children in Assam and West Bengal. CM believes that allocation of  Rs 1,000 crore for the tea workers would have a long-term impact on the healthcare and overall development of the community.

He believs that the Budget proposals would reinvigorate human capital and innovation besides boosting health and well-being, physical and financial capital, infrastructure as well as inclusive development in India.

FM in her budget speech announced the scrapping of income tax for senior citizens under certain conditions, new rules for removal of double taxation for NRIs, and a reduction in the time period of tax assessments among other measures. Startups will get an extension in their tax holiday for an additional year. Sitharaman also announced that the advance tax liability on dividend income shall arise after declaration of payment of dividend.
