Srinagar: Recently the central universities of the Indian Himalayan states have come to a stage for research and development work in the context of the Himalayas. For this, the Central University of Indian Himalayan States has been formed. After the convocation of Garhwal University last Sunday, the Sangh got formal recognition in a meeting chaired by Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Minister of Human Resource Development here. Now the 13 central universities established in the Himalayan states will work together on research projects of Himalayan interests after discussions among themselves.

In a meeting with representatives of various universities of the country, Dr. Nishank said that he should work on the preservation of the invaluable wealth and biodiversity of the Himalayas as well as traditional Ayurveda and herbs of the Himalayas. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval shared the work and experiences done on the Himalayas. He said that universities and research institutes established in the Himalayas will have to work for the strengthening of the Himalayas. He assured full help and support in this.

To increase the forest wealth, we have to work together: According to sources, on this occasion, Vice-Chancellor of North Eastern Hill University, Prof. SK Srivastava, Vice-Chancellor of Assam University Prof. Dilip Chandra Nath, Vice-Chancellor of Sikkim University, Prof. Shanti Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of Kashmir University Prof. Adil Bashir, Dr. Kala Chand Sen, Director of Wadia Institute of Geology and Dr. Panthuri, Scientist in-charge of GB Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment and Sustainable Development participated.

-Himalaya's heritage will be preserved.
- Social and scientific solutions to the problems of local residents will be found.
- Measures will be taken to prevent migration from the Himalayan states.
- Ways will be found to increase the income of the residents of Himalaya.
- Work will be done in the direction of minimizing the damage caused by accidents.
- Local youth will be given education providing employment.
