New Delhi: Coronavirus is now being seen all over the world. So far, more than 5000 people have been killed by this virus. At the same time, Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said that the amount of ethanol used as a bio-fuel in petroleum products will now be up to ten percent to revive the sugar industry. Currently, its quantity in petroleum products is only five percent, which was only two percent before this. Along with this, he also admitted that despite all these measures, the sugar industry is seen in crisis.

According to the information received, Union Minister Paswan was answering questions related to the crisis of sugar mills in the Rajya Sabha on Friday, 13 March 2020. He said that the government is constantly helping them to revive the sugar industry. Despite this, the sugar mill owners refuse to pay the farmers by citing losses.

Where he made it clear that we only decide the rates of sugarcane purchase from farmers. If the sugar mill owners are exploiting the farmers and are not paying, then the state governments should take strict action against such mills. It comes under the jurisdiction of state governments only.
