Lucknow: The election meeting of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi in Meerut on Saturday has not been allowed by the administration. Till late in the night, party leaders went around the Nauchandi police station for Owaisi's meeting. But they did not succeed. There is no information from the party as to when the rally will take place now.

Asaduddin Owaisi was scheduled to hold a public meeting at the main Nauchandi Maidan in Meerut city, and activists angry over not being allowed to meet even after the application termed it as an administration conspiracy.  Now it is yet to be decided whether Owaisi will come to Meerut or not. Party president Naushad informed that for the past 7 to 10 days, party workers had been visiting offices to allow public meetings. A letter of permission was also given.

AIMIM leaders said that first we went to Nauchandi Maidan near the municipal corporation to seek permission for the meeting and from there we were sent to the Zilla Panchayat.  When he went to the Zilla Panchayat, he asked him to go to the Nauchandi police station. Overall, we were being fooled. AIMIM Vice President Shaukat Ali also tweeted about it yesterday and wrote in his tweet that we will take permission.
