Lucknow: A Muslim man has been sentenced to five years in jail by a court in Uttar Pradesh in a case of love jihad. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 40,000 on him. A Muslim youth, a resident of Hasanpur Kotwali in Amroha, hid his religion and trapped the minor girl in his love trap. In this case, the court heard both sides and sentenced the young man to five years.

Let us know that for the first time someone has been sentenced in the case of love jihad in UP. The case is of the Hasanpur Kotwali area. Here is the nursery of a businessman on the Hasanpur-Gajraula road, whose car was driven by Mohammad Afzal. Afzal's house is in Mohalla Mangalpura Saraitareen under the Hayatnagar police station area of Sambhal district. During this time, Mohammad Afzal trapped the 16-year-old daughter of the nursery operator in his love and took her to Delhi. Afzal had described himself as a Hindu and a priest of Lord Shiva in front of the girl. However, when the girl later came to know about Afzal's reality, she refused to marry and protested.

In fact, on April 2, 2021, Afzal kidnapped Nabagil with the intention of marrying her and took her to Delhi. Afzal started pressurising the girl to become a Muslim, but the minor opposed it. In this case, the girl's father lodged a police complaint against Afzal. Two days later, the police nabbed the two from Delhi. At the same time, the girl has accused Afzal of promising to marry by hiding his religion.

Based on the statement given by the minor girl about Afzal, the police had registered an FIR under the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance 2020. Afzal was tried in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Special (POCSO Act I) Dr Kapila Raghav. On Friday, the court convicted Mohammad Afzal and sentenced him to five years in jail and imposed a fine of Rs 40,000.
