RAMPUR : In a bizarre incident, a drug addict man killed his wife, and gouged out her eyes by repeatedly stabbing her in the face and neck. He, thereafter, stabbed himself to death.
The horrible incident took place in Kanshi Ram colony in Ganj area of Rampur city on Saturday, May 6.
The accused, identified as Shazeb Khan, aged 30, had married Shahana Alam, 28, in 2017 and the couple had 2 children (2-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl).
However, because of his addiction and unemployment, his marriage to his wife was strained.
Shahana left her house on Friday after Shazeb severely beat her for not performing namaz in time. But later that night, Shazeb's uncle persuaded Shahana to go back home by pleading with her to give Shazeb another chance.
The next day, Shahana's neighbours overheard her pleading for assistance. They called the police right away, who responded and forcibly opened the door to discover Shahana's lifeless body on the bed with a hideously damaged face.
Shazeb was found with the ice pick impaled in his chest, laying on the ground. He was taken to the hospital in a hurry, but he died from his wounds shortly after.
Sansar Singh, another SP, stated that preliminary evidence suggests that Shazeb was an unemployed drug user. Shahana, his wife, started working as a seamstress to help the family, but Shazeb frequently stole her wages. Shahana was frequently beaten by him. He stabbed her more than 30 times in the face, resulting in her death. The additional SP stated that the bodies had been submitted for autopsy.
