Lucknow: CM Nitish Kumar had also accused Uttar Pradesh of selling liquor on a large scale even after the ban in Bihar. Nitish Kumar had said that liquor is being smuggled into Bihar from BJP-ruled states like Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Nitish had said that the consignment of liquor from UP is not being stopped. While the reality seems to be exactly the opposite. Consignments of liquor going to Bihar are being caught continuously in Chandauli, Ballia, Ghazipur, and Varanasi of Bihar border.

On Tuesday (December 20), the UP Police once again caught a large consignment of liquor going to Bihar in Varanasi, Mirzamurad. The value of the seized liquor is estimated to be Rs 35 lakh. Police have seized 491 cartons of illegal English liquor smuggled under the guise of a truck-laden sack near the overbridge at Dangharia NH-2 in the Mirzamurad police station area. Two smugglers have also been arrested with liquor.  

Station House Officer Rajiv Kumar Singh along with his accomplices was searching vehicles near Rupapur in the area on Monday night. Meanwhile, a truck coming from Prayagraj signaled to stop. The truck driver increased the speed of the vehicle and started running toward Varanasi. Seeing this, the police chased the truck and stopped the truck near the overbridge at Dangharia, and searched it. Two liquor smugglers were arrested with 491 cartons of illegal English liquor in large quantities under the guise of a sack loaded with a truck.
