Lucknow: A case of molestation of a minor by the cleric of a mosque in Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh has come to light. As per reports, the name of the accused is Ghulam Waris, who works in a mosque. Seeing the victim alone, Ghulam Waris entered her house with a dirty intention. But, when the victim raised an alarm, the maulvi fled from there, after which the police arrested him on Thursday, April 13, 2023.
According to media reports, the case pertains to the village of Palia Kalan under the Mahuadih police station area of Deoria. A maulvi named Ghulam Waris used to live here in a mosque. He also used to work at this mosque. Originally, Ghulam Waris was a resident of Bhulwariya village. A 13-year-old Muslim girl lives with her family just next to the mosque. On the day of the incident, the family members of the victim had gone to work in the fields. Then the girl was alone in the house, which Ghulam Waris got to know.
In the complaint, the victim has said that the Maulvi, who entered the house, grabbed her with dirty intentions. After this, the Maulvi started molesting the girl. Sensing the intention of Ghulam Waris, the girl started screaming loudly. When the people around him started gathering, the maulvi ran away. When the family members of the girl lodged a complaint with the police, the police registered a case and started searching for the accused. Finally, on Thursday, the police caught Ghulam Waris and sent him to jail.
