Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh's Unnao district is once again in the news and the reason is the atrocity on a daughter again. In the Unnao case where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was badly cornered over MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in the much-talked-about rape case, now the action of a Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and the son of a former minister in the same Unnao has put Akhilesh Yadav's party on the backfoot in the midst of the elections. It is alleged that he was a minister of state in the SP government. Rajol Singh, son of Fateh Bahadur Singh, not only kidnapped a Dalit daughter but also murdered her and buried the body in a toilet tank. Two months later, on Thursday, when the girl's body was found, the political mercury has stirred up.
Rajol Singh, son of late Fateh Bahadur Singh, who was a former minister of state in the SP government in Unnao, was accused of missing daughter Pooja by Kanshiram colony woman Rita two months ago. The police filed a report but took no action. On this, Rita tried to kill herself by jumping in front of Akhilesh Yadav's convoy in Lucknow on January 24. After this, the case caught on, then the police arrested Rajol and put him in jail. On February 4, when the police took Rajol on PCR remand and interrogated him for eight hours, it came to light about his accomplice Suraj, a resident of Nava village of Hardoi police station Mubarakpur. After this, the police dug the pit of the septic tank located in the plot behind the ashram of the accused and the body of the girl was recovered from there.
Pooja, daughter of a Dalit woman Rita, a resident of Kanshiram Colony in Sadar, had been missing since last December. The mother filed a missing complaint on December 8. On January 11, 2022, a case was registered under the SC/ST Act. Mother kept pleading for justice. But no one listened to her. On January 24, the mother had jumped in front of Akhilesh Yadav's car in Lucknow. When the matter heated up, the police put the accused Rajol Singh in jail on 25 January. The victim's mother reached the spot after receiving the news of Pooja's death, the victim's mother accused the CO and the inspector and the inspector of negligence. Taking cognizance of the matter, the late-night Superintendent of Police Dinesh Tripathi suspended Sadar Kotwali Inspector Akhilesh Chandra Pandey after investigation.
