Lucknow: Syed Zafar Islam of Madhya Pradesh could not reach to fill his nomination for UP Rajya Sabha by-election due to health problem. Therefore, his nomination letter was filed by the UP government's senior minister Suresh Khanna before the election officer BB Dubey. Apart from Minister Khanna, there were several senior leaders of the party including Swami Prasad Maurya, Swati Singh, Ramapati Shastri, Rajendra Pratap Singh Moti Singh and State BJP President Swatantra Dev Singh while filing nomination papers.

It is worth mentioning that on 26 August, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominated the party's national spokesperson Syed Zafar Islam in the upcoming by-election for a seat in the Rajya Sabha. Let us tell you that Zafar Islam came into the limelight when he persuaded veteran Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, who played an important role in toppling the Kamal Nath government of Madhya Pradesh, to the BJP.

This by-election is being held due to the death of SP's ousted leader and MP Amar Singh. In view of the BJP's overwhelming majority in the state assembly, the victory of Islam is being confirmed. Giving information to the BJP sources said that because Islam is unhealthy, the nomination papers could not be reached.
