The woman pradhan died after eating a wedding feast in Bijnor in UP, the country's largest state. The prime minister has accused 5 persons of feeding poisonous substances during the feast. Police have registered a case under sections of murder under conspiracy on the complaint of the prime minister and arrested one of the criminals and started investigating the case.

The newly appointed Village Pradhan Shiksha Devi of Samarth Pur Sheikh, a village in Mandavali area of Bijnor, had gone to the village on June 29 to attend a wedding ceremony and had dinner at the ongoing feast and soon her health deteriorated. Gram Pradhan Shiksha Devi was taken to the hospital for treatment. From where the doctors referred him to Bijnor in view of his critical condition. In Bijnor too, he was referred to higher centre Meerut as his condition was critical but Pradhan died on the way to Meerut.

Pradhan's family members have filed a complaint against five persons from the party who lost the elections in the village itself for giving poisonous substances in food as part of a conspiracy. Police have arrested one criminal booked for conspiracy and murder against five persons on the basis of the information of Mritika's husband and handed over the entire case to Najibabad police. The body of Mritika has been taken into custody and sent for postmortem and samples of food consumed were also sent by the police for investigation.
