BAHRAICH: From November 17 to 20, the border between Uttar Pradesh and Nepal will be closed due to the general elections in the neighbouring Himalayan country.

In this regard, sources said that a high-level coordination conference between officials from the two nations took place in Banke district of Nepal.

The meetings were participated by the Administrative officials of the border districts of India and Nepal. Dr. Dinesh Chandra, District Magistrate of Bahraich, said that the administration was dedicated to offering all assistance necessary to guarantee free and peaceful elections in Nepal.

"From November 17 to November 20, Nepal's government chose to close its borders with India. It would be forbidden to move at that time. Nepal has requested cooperation from the Bahraich and Shrawasti district administration staff during the closure. The authorities also talked on how to stop smuggling of drugs, wildlife, and people across the border "an official spokesperson stated.

District Magistrate Shrawasti Neha Prakash also pledged to provide the officials stationed at the border with all necessary help.

The Maharajganj district's Sunauli border will also continue to be closed.
