New Delhi: The Centre is likely to pass Triple Talaq bills from the Rajya Sabha. The government has put the required strength in the Upper House. While the government will get a direct support from the NDA,K.Bjd on the bill, the TRS, YSR Congress has agreed to walk out during the voting. Apart from this, some members of the SP and RJD will be absent during the voting and will give indirect benefit to the government.

According to a senior government minister, the triple talaq bill will be tabled in the Upper House on Monday as per the strategy so far. The government had decided to extend the current session, especially after it managed to raise the required strength on the bill. The Minister claimed that the Government had the support of 117 MPs on the three divorce bills. Besides, 14 members of JD(U), TRS and YSR and at least three members of SP-RJD will walk out during the voting. This will make the work of the Government easier.

The government realized its strategy during the RTI Amendment Bill on Thursday. In support of the bill, 117 voted only 74 against it. During this period, 49 members were either absent or abstained from voting. The government has already tried three times before to legalise the triple talaq. The bill was passed in the Lok Sabha every time but failed to cross the threshold of the Rajya Sabha.
