Lucknow: Following the demolition of unauthorized buildings in Lucknow on March 10th, chaos erupted in the Uttar Pradesh capital amidst rumors that individuals were trapped beneath the debris. An FIR has been filed against seven individuals, including Habidul, Arshad Warsi, Mohd. Naushad, Fazal Ahmed, Mohammad Saif Khan, Adil Istiaq, and Rehan Ali, along with hundreds of others, in connection with the incident.

The removal of illegal structures in Akbarnagar, as per directives from the High Court, led to a tumultuous situation. Equipped with Poclains and JCBs, authorities initiated the demolition, which resulted in the collapse of one of the buildings. Viral videos of the incident fueled rumors that people were buried under the rubble, prompting locals to gather at the site.

Despite assurances from the administration that the building was vacant before demolition, the agitated crowd refused to believe it. Stones were hurled at police teams and Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) members, forcing them to retreat for their safety. Additionally, debris from the collapsed structure damaged nearby dwellings, further exacerbating tensions.

Criticism was directed at the LDA team, accusing them of negligence that led to the incident. Sanjeev Kumar of the LDA filed an FIR, citing the reckless actions of the demolition crew.

Amidst the chaos, the administration assured that the seven families affected by the demolition would receive homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Despite efforts to address grievances, the incident highlights the challenges surrounding unauthorized constructions and the need for careful planning and execution of demolition drives to avoid such incidents in the future.
