Kurnool: The corona epidemic has created a lot of terror all over the country and a huge crowd of people gathered at Karuppala village in Kurnool city of Andhra Pradesh on the occasion of Ugadi (New Year). A video of the occasion is being shared on social media where people are joining each other in a cow dung throwing ceremony ignoring the threat of corona. This has led to public violation of corona guidelines, while the country is facing a deadly corona crisis.

 

 

On the occasion of Ugadi (New Year), it has been customary to throw dung at each other. Ugadi is the first day of the new year for Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. Another function held at Kallur village in Kurnool district saw hundreds of people gathering for the three-day festival. A procession of bulls was taken out to circumambulate the Chaudeshwari temple at the function. A huge wheel and a huge crowd of people were seen nearby, a few meters from the temple, most of whom were without masks.

The same incidents have taken place at a time when more than 5,000 new cases of coronavirus infection have been reported in Andhra Pradesh in the last 24 hours and this is the highest number of cases in a day after 11th October. The number of patients undergoing treatment in the state has gone up to 31,710 which is the highest figure since October 25. Meanwhile, a record 6,28,961 doses of corona vaccine were administered in a day in the state on Wednesday. So far 45.93 lakh doses of vaccine have been given in the state.
