NEW DELHI: A 39-year-old intoxicated man was detained after he was accused of urinating at a gate in terminal 3's departure area at the IGI Airport, police said on Wednesday. Jauhar Ali Khan, a Bihar native who was arrested following the incident on Sunday evening, was later freed that day on a bail bond, they said.

A senior police official said they received information on Sunday around 5:30 pm that a person urinated publicly at gate number-6 in the departure area of terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

According to the police, Khan appeared to be in an intoxicated state when he screamed and abused others in a public setting. They claimed that he had plans to travel to Dammam in Saudi Arabia.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Airport) Ravi Kumar Singh stated that after Khan was evaluated at the Safdarjung Hospital, it was discovered that he had ingested alcohol. At IGI Airport, a case was filed under sections 294 (obscene actions and songs) and 510 (misconduct in public by an intoxicated person) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and Khan was taken into custody. Later,  he was reportedly freed on a bail bond. 

A man who was intoxicated is accused of urinating on a female co-passenger who was also intoxicated on an Air India aircraft from New York to Delhi on November 26 of last year. On the basis of a complaint made by the woman to Air India, the Delhi Police had filed a FIR against him on January 4. On Saturday, he was taken into custody in Bangalore. The suspect was taken into custody in Bangalore. He was then placed on judicial remand for 14 days by a court.
