Mumbai: Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar has joined the Shiv Sena today. Urmila has joined the party in the presence of CM Uddhav Thackeray. Prior to this, Urmila was in Congress and had contested from Mumbai North Lok Sabha seat. She recently resigned from the Congress party. After this, she joined the Shiv Sena today.
The Shiv Sena-led coalition government in Maharashtra was set to make Urmila Matondkar a member of the Legislative Council. The government also sent her name to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari. The Maha Vikas Aghadi government of Maharashtra had sent a list of 12 names to the Governor, who are to be sent to the Legislative Council from the Governor's quota. Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition government of Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress is in Maharashtra. The names of four leaders of the three parties were sent to the governor.
The NCP has sent the names of Eknath Khadse, Raju Shetty, Yashpal Bhinge and Anand Shinde, while the Congress has chosen Rajni Patil, Sachin Sawant, Muzaffar Hussain and Anirudh Vankar. The Shiv Sena has chosen Urmila Matondkar, Chandrakant Raghuvanshi, Vijay Karanjkar and Nitin Bangude Patil to send them to the Legislative Council. After this, speculations were being made that Urmila might go to Shiv Sena. Today, in the presence of CM Uddhav Thackeray, Urmila has taken membership of Shiv Sena.
