The North American Aerospace Defense Command announced on Tuesday that it had detected four Russian military aircraft in the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).

According to NORAD, these Russian planes stayed within international airspace and did not cross into the sovereign airspace of the United States or Canada.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) is a United States and Canada bi-national organization charged with the missions of aerospace warning, aerospace control and maritime warning for North America.

Norad ensures effective foreign aid by funding NGOs and conducting its own research and projects. Bård Vegar Solhjell is the current director general. While Norad used to be Norway's official development assistance organization, that responsibility shifted to the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in mid-2004. However, Norad still supports NGO activities in developing countries, especially through its NORHED program. Additionally, it plays a role in managing development funds and ensuring accurate evaluation and efficient implementation of Norwegian development cooperation.
