New Delhi: US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, has expressed admiration for India's Lok Sabha Elections 2024, describing the execution of the world's largest democratic exercise as "very inspiring." Garcetti, witnessing the elections for the first time, highlighted the incredible and vibrant campaigning and voting process.

"It's extraordinary to see the world's largest democracy execute the biggest election in the world. We've seen incredible, vibrant campaigning, parties, rallies—it's very inspiring to see," Garcetti told the media.

He further emphasized, "I wish India and Indians luck..."

The Lok Sabha elections in India are being held in seven phases across the country, with the counting of votes scheduled for June 4.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is seeking a third consecutive term in power, while the Opposition INDIA bloc aims to challenge the incumbent BJP.

Prime Minister Modi, contesting for a third term from Varanasi, previously won the seat by significant margins in 2014 and 2019.

Praising India's economic growth, Garcetti noted, "India is the fastest-growing economy in the developing world. America is the fastest-growing economy in the developed world." He underscored the natural partnership between the two nations and highlighted their strong bilateral ties.

"We're natural partners and friends. If the US and India continue expanding our economies together, we can not only benefit our countries but also help the world by diversifying supply chains and expanding into regions like Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific islands," Garcetti remarked.

He also commented on the robust relationship between India and the US in the space sector.
