WASHINGTON: Shots were fired early Sunday morning at a house party in Pittsburgh, a major city in the US state of Pennsylvania, killing two minors and injuring eight others.

According to police, the incident occurred shortly after midnight during a party at a rented house with as many as 200 persons in attendance, many of whom were under the age of 21.

According to treports, two male victims, both adolescents, died at the hospital, while eight more individuals were being treated for gunshot wounds.

According to a police announcement, nine more people were hurt, but Pittsburgh Police Chief Scott Schubert told reporters on Sunday afternoon that the figure had been reduced.

According to police, up to 50 gunshots were fired inside the house, causing some partygoers to jump out the windows, and numerous more shots were fired outside the house. The investigation is currently in progress.

On Sunday, Andrew Weinstein, an attorney and proponent of gun control, tweeted that the massacre may have gone unnoticed because "it's the kind of event that happens every single day in America." Weinstein continued, "It's long past time we done something about it." Several mass shootings were reported across the United States over the weekend, including one at a Pittsburgh party.
