Lucknow: A class 8 student, a resident of a village in the Jogia Kotwali area of Siddharthnagar in Uttar Pradesh, hanged herself to death late on Monday evening. The family members allege that she committed suicide after being hurt by the molestation and rape attempt. Seeing the escalation of tension, the ASP and the force of several police stations had reached the spot.  

After the death, the girl's father lodged a complaint with Kotwali station accusing four youths of the village that while returning from his native village Lakhnapar late on Monday evening, they stopped them on the way and molested his daughter and tried to rape her. It is alleged that his daughter committed suicide after being hurt by the incident. After the body was found, some people started creating a ruckus and this led to tension in the village. After receiving the information, the police force of ASP Suresh Chandra Rawat, Jogia, Bansi, Siddharthnagar and some other police stations reached the spot in the night itself and cooled the matter by assuring people of action. In the night itself, the police took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem.

Jogiya Kotwali in charge Dinesh Kumar Saroj said that on a tip-off, he immediately reached the spot. The body was on the bed. The whole matter is under investigation. The help of the forensic team is also being taken. Strict action will be taken against the culprits in the case. ASP Suresh Chandra Rawat said that based on the complaint, action will be taken after conducting an inquiry.
