Lucknow: Even after having a strict law against love jihad in Uttar Pradesh, its cases are constantly coming up. The latest case has been reported from Sonbhadra. Here, under the guise of family friendship, the young man lured and raped a 12-year-old girl, the matter came to light when the victim became pregnant. Even after this, efforts were made to hush up the matter at the village level, but late at night, the family members refused to accept the pressure and complained. It was then that the police registered a case under the POCSO Act and arrested the accused.
The case is of the Pannuganj police station area. It is alleged that the Muslim youth lured the girl and sexually abused her. When the girl became pregnant, the victim's family came to know about this months later. Fearing public shame, the victim's family kept the matter under wraps for a few days, but when the girl became eight months pregnant and various discussions started happening in the village. According to the victim's side, as a compromise, the family members of the accused forced them to convert and marry according to their customs.
When the girl refused, a month later, the girl's family lodged a complaint late on Friday night. After the matter came to the media, the police registered a case. Police said that investigation is being done and further action will be taken accordingly.
