Lucknow: The verdict in the Kanpur rape case in Uttar Pradesh has come after 36 years. The accused had raped a teenage girl. In this, the wife of the accused also supported him. The court has now sentenced both husband and wife to 10 years in jail. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on each of the accused. Rs 35,000 will be given to the victim from the fine collected.

ADJ Yogesh Kumar, after hearing both sides, sentenced Rambharosa Shukla alias Guddu and his wife Hiradevi of Harjindernagar. According to ADGC Vivek Shukla, the 15-year-old girl lived in her aunt's house in Harjindernagar. She was raped in 1986. The girl had given a statement to the police that Rambharosa took her to his room and raped her. Rambharosa's wife Hira was present and she had put a latch from outside while helping her husband.

Many times, Rambharosa raped the victim with the consent of his wife. Rambharosa also threatened to kill the girl if she get pregnant. The father had lodged a complaint at Chakeri police station against Rambharosa, his wife Hira Devi, Radheshyam, his wife Kusma, and Ramakant and his wife Malti.
