Lucknow: A case of attempt to marriage has come to light after conversion from Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh. Sharikur Rahman, a resident of Kot in Khakhreru police station area of Fatehpur, changed his name a few days ago and befriended a young girl and then drove her to his village. He then converted the young girl and tried to get rid of her. Police have registered a case against the accused. Police are said to have informed the family of the girl from West Bengal and started an investigation on the apprehension that the youth belonged to a network.
According to reports, the young girl was brought to the village by Sharikur Rahman. Her dress made people suspect that she belonged to another religion. On Friday (November 12, 2021), Sharikur Rahman was about to marry the girl, but before he could do so, the villagers informed the Superintendent of Police. The police then took immediate action and detained the duo before the marriage. In the interrogation, the girl gave her Hindu name to the police and said that she is a resident of North 24 Parganas police station Khardah district of West Bengal. She was friends with Sharikur Rahman through Facebook. The accused has then given his second name. After this, she ran away with the young man and went to his village. On reaching there she came to know that Shariqur Rahman is not Hindu, but Muslim.
Police said that the youth was trying to get rid of the girl by converting. On the complaint of the girl, a case has been registered against Sharikur Rahman for concealing caste and religion and attempting to forcibly commit conversion. The girl will be handed over to her family.
