Gorakhpur: CBI Deputy SP Rupesh Kumar Srivastava, who returned to Gorakhpur from Delhi, was run over by a truck and tried to kill. However, the driver of the car wisely saved the deputy superintendent of police and his life. The truck overturned uncontrollably, killing the truck driver on the spot. On information, SP and higher officials of the district reached the spot.

On the complaint of the Deputy SP, Gulriha police have registered a case of attempt to murder and started an investigation. At the same time, officers have also been instructed to investigate from the CBI headquarters. CBI Deputy SP Rupesh Kumar Srivastava has informed that he is currently investigating several highly sensitive cases. These include many eminent people belonging to the erstwhile central and state governments. In such a situation, the way the truck hit his Scorpio twice and overturned on the ballast, cannot be ruled out of any conspiracy.

According to the report, Rupesh Kumar Srivastava, a resident of Pipralala village under Shyamdeurwan police station area of Maharajganj district, is posted as deputy SP in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) New Delhi branch. On Thursday itself, he came home to Gorakhpur on a day's leave from New Delhi and was going towards Gorakhpur from Maharajganj in the evening. Meanwhile, a truck stumbled into his Scorpio car twice in Bargadhin and then climbed onto the ballast and overturned. The rear portion of his vehicle was damaged by the truck's stumble. His driver showed the presence of mind in both the stumbles and saved his and the deputy SP's life.

On Friday afternoon, Superintendent of Police North Manoj Kumar Awasthi reached the spot and started an investigation. Gulriha in-charge inspector Umesh Kumar Bajpai said that a case has been registered under other sections, including an attempt to murder, and an investigation is underway. At present, the truck driver has been identified as Ratan Kumar, a resident of Laxmipur Kuberasthan in the Kushinagar district.
