Lucknow: The country's largest state UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Thursday announced that the state government will fund two sports including wrestling for the next 10 years by adopting them. CM Yogi said that the state government will adopt two sports and finance them for the next 10 years at the Tokyo Olympics felicitation program at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ikana Stadium in the capital Lucknow.

The same will be one sports wrestling and the other will be selected by the Sports Department. The UP government is working fast on the construction of a playground in every village in the state, CM Adityanath said. A Sports University is also being constructed in Meerut. The state government will set up a sports university in the name of Major Dhyan Chand. The state government will also set up a wrestling academy in Lucknow.

He also informed that the Government is now going to increase the diet amount of sportspersons in sports colleges from Rs.250 to Rs.375 per player per day on the lines of the Sports Authority of India (SAI). At the same time, the UP government has approved the appointment of UP champion players in Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, and World Cup and World Championships through direct recruitment to gazetted posts and also to give the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police.
