Uttar Pradesh: Rama medical college made dead body hostage after not getting hospital fees

Hapur: A highly shameful case has come to light from Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh. There has been an incident of rama medical college management taking the body hostage after a corona patient Nitin (23 years) died while undergoing treatment and did not deposit Rs 54,000. The Rama Hospital administration has handed over the body of the youth to his family members with Rs 35,000 after district collector Hapud intervened in the case.

In fact, Nitin Goel, a 23-year-old man from Galand in Pilkhuva, Hapur, died of corona infection late on the night of May 4 at Rama Medical College. The next day, on May 5, the hospital management handed over a bill of Rs 54,000 to manoj goel, the father of the deceased Nitin. When manoj goel, the father of the deceased, said that 'We did not have that much money, the hospital management said that they would not give the bodies unless we pay the money'.

Later, Dhaulana SDM Arvind Dwivedi spoke to the hospital management and said that he would give whatever expenses had been incurred for the treatment of the deceased, let him take the body. But the hospital management refused and handed over the body to the family members only after collecting Rs 35,000 from the kin of the deceased. Nitin's body was held hostage in the hospital by the hospital management till  received Rs 35,000. Meanwhile, District Collector Anuj Singh has ordered an inquiry into the case of ill-treatment of patients at Rama Medical College, saying strict action will be taken against the culprits.
