Kanpur: Five members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) have been arrested from Kanpur on charges of spreading violence during the ongoing protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Citizenship Register (NRC). These people are accused of inciting violence in Babupurwa and Yatimkhana in Kanpur.

Remarkably, PFI members had gathered to protest CM Yogi Adityanath's program. Police had identified many people belonging to PFI and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM). The police had gathered evidence to take action against these people. Giving information about the case, SSP Anant Dev had said that people of both organizations had already hatched a conspiracy for violence.

He said that outsiders are also involved in this. Efforts are being made to identify these outsiders through surveillance, video footage, photographs, and other means. Five members of PFI have been arrested on Friday. There are protests in many parts of the country regarding CAA and NRC, including violence in many areas, in which PFI members were found involved.
