Lucknow: A man strangled his girlfriend to death in Uttar Pradesh's Rae Bareli. After this, the body was thrown into the well, the police formed two teams to solve the murder mystery. Police were conducting raids at various places to nab the killers. Meanwhile, information was received from an informer that the accused were hiding in a village. After this, when the police reached to catch them, the miscreants opened fire on them. In the retaliatory firing, both the accused were shot in the leg. Then they were arrested.

Siraj, a resident of Baraipur in Kotwali Nagar police station, was having an affair with a young woman named Salma for the last eight years. But Siraj's family got him married elsewhere. Salma got angry with this and kept pressuring Siraj to divorce his wife. Fed up with this, Siraj conspired with his cousin Moharram Ali to remove Salma from the way.

On December 31, Siraj Ali called Salma on the pretext of roaming around and strangled her with a rope in a moving car. After this, they threw the body in a well in Hasanpur and fled. SOG in-charge Praveen Gautam and Bachhranwa Police SHO Narayan Kushwaha have informed that the accused of murder has been arrested in the encounter. The accused are being interrogated.
