Lucknow: In Uttar Pradesh, a former Sarpanch was brutally attacked in Rampur in public. The attackers opened fire, in which one of the bullets hit the nephew of the former Sarpanch and he died on the spot. A neighbour was also shot in an attempt to save him. The former Sarpanch was seriously injured in the attack and was referred to Moradabad in a critical condition. On the other hand, the officials who reached the spot showed strictness and on the basis of the complaint, bulldozers were fired at the houses of the four accused of the village itself.
The incident took place at Lalpur Kala village under the Thana Tanda area. Haji Haroon Contractor, a former Sarpanch of Lalpur, was sitting outside the house in the morning. It is alleged that four miscreants, who were already ambushed in the neighbouring house, opened fire on the former Sarpanch. The former Sarpanch fell to the ground after being shot in the neck and waist. Hearing the sound of firing, the former Sarpanch's nephew Mohammad Waseem started challenging the miscreants. The unarmed miscreants also opened fire at the nephew. He died on the spot due to a bullet injury in the head. A neighbour defending the beach was also shot in the hand.
After committing the crime, the accused fled on two bikes. When the murder was reported in Lalpur Kala in broad daylight, there was a commotion in the police department. Senior police officers rushed to the spot. Waseem's body was sent to the police hospital for post-mortem while the seriously injured Haji Haroon Contractor was admitted to the district hospital. From there, he was referred to Moradabad. Rampur SP Ankit Mittal said three persons sustained bullet injuries during the firing in Lalpur Kala. One of them died on the spot. Five teams have been formed to arrest the accused. The accused will not be spared.
