Lucknow: Two accused, who hatched a conspiracy to convert Hindus to Christians by offering jobs and cash, have been arrested in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. Pipraich police arrested him and produced him in the court, from where he has been sent to jail on Monday (April 11, 2022). One of the two accused is a resident of Jammu and Kashmir and the other is a resident of Pathankot. According to media reports, both the accused pastors engaged in the work of conversion were living here for the last three months and were engaged in converting people to Christianity.
On the complaint of Sanjay Maurya, a resident of Pipraich, the Gorakhpur Police has registered a case against both of them under sections of the Prohibition of Religion Act. Whereas on the basis of information from the informer, on Sunday (April 10, 2022), both the accused of the conversion gang were taken into custody by the Pipraich police and after getting the case of Christian conversion correct during interrogation, registered a case and sent them to jail. According to the report, the accused engaged in Christian conversion, are describing themselves as pastors of Christianity. It is being said that both the accused were Hindus themselves a few years back. At the same time, both have been identified as Keshav Singh Janwal son of Govardhan Singh, resident of Jaanepur in Jammu and Kashmir and Omkar of Pathankot. According to the police, the two youths were staying at Seema's house, a resident of Chilbilwa village, since January.
Both were pressurizing the people of the village to convert from Hinduism to Christianity by luring them to get admission in missionary schools, free good education, employment and money. It is being said that the border where these two were living had also been prepared by these people to adopt Christianity. According to media reports, SO Pipraich Madhum Mishra has told that it has come to the fore in the interrogation that till two years ago, both were Hindus themselves. But later he converted to Christianity. Now both of them are spreading their religion and going to different districts of Uttar Pradesh and inciting poor people to convert to Christianity by giving various lures. In this connection, Keshav Singh Janwal of Jammu came to Gorakhpur on 18 January 2022 and Onkar of Pathankot reached on 7 April 2022. The police also told the media that both of them had converted around 25 people from different places to Christianity in two years. They were in the same attempt in Gorakhpur too, but their plans failed and both were arrested and sent to jail.
