Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested Congress Party National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Priyanka Gandhi has been arrested for violating Section 144. An FIR has been registered against them under several sections including breach of peace. Earlier, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was in police custody in Sitapur. The Congress party was constantly questioning his detention for more than 24 hours without FIR, but now the UP police have registered a case and arrested him. The UP Police will also reportedly produce Priyanka in court today.

Congress Party National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Tuesday hit out at the Yogi Adityanath-led government in the state saying the UP government's attitude towards those who raise their voices is constantly violent and repressive. Priyanka Gandhi also attacked PM Narendra Modi who visited Lucknow and asked why PM was not going to meet families whose sons were "brutally murdered".

Senior BJP leader Uma Bharti on Tuesday said congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi and others in her party have no right to speak about farmers and democracy. Uma Bharti tweeted that "Don't speak on issues on which the In-charge of Uttar Pradesh and congress general secretary and other Congress leaders are not empowered to speak."
