UP Police recommends to ban PFI, now state government will send letter to central

Lucknow: In the wake of violent protests in UP over the Citizenship Amendment Act, the police have demanded a ban on the organization named Popular Front of India (PFI). The DGP Headquarter of UP Police has sent a letter to the State Home Department regarding the same. It is being told that the Home Department will now write a letter about this to the Central Government. The letter recommends a ban on the Popular Front of India involved in violent activities in the state during opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also said that the UP government will ban the PFI by bringing a proposal. He also said that SIMI members are also included in the PFI. These people have instigated violence in UP. UP DGP OP Singh has also written a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs about this. The letter said that many members of the PFI were formerly members of the banned organization Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). During the violence in the state, 22 of their members have been arrested. This organization is active in 7 states including UP. This organization has been active since 2010 and has been trying to spoil the atmosphere.

In the police action taken so far, about one and a half dozen people of PFI have been arrested from many districts of Uttar Pradesh. Police investigation has revealed that these people joined the PFI after the ban on SIMI (SIMI) organization.
