Result of the Lok Sabha Election 2024: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seems to be experiencing unexpected setbacks as the vote counting process gets under way in a few Hindi heartland states, notably Uttar Pradesh, which is the most important state politically.
Based on vote data provided by the Election Commission, the BJP and the Samajwadi Party were in a deadlock for the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.
The BJP was leading in 35 seats compared to the SP's 34 as of 11:05 a.m., with the opposition INDIA bloc alliance leading in 42 seats.
The BJP had taken 62 seats in the state in 2019.
Notable figures who have established comfortable leads over their opponents are Congress candidates Rahul Gandhi and Kishori Lal Sharma in Rae Bareli and Amethi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and his wife Dimple Yadav in Kannauj and Mainpuri, and Rajnath Singh in Lucknow and Varanasi.
In the seats of Meerut and Mathura, Arun Govil and Hema Malini of the BJP defeated their opponents.
In Kaiserganj, the son of former Wrestling Federation of India chairman Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, Karan Bhushan Singh, is leading SP's Bhagat Ram by 40,449 votes.
In the Ayodhya district's Faizabad seat, Lallu Singh of the BJP is behind Awadhesh Prasad of the SP by 5,326 votes.
Haryana
The BJP trailed the Congress in Haryana, where the two parties held four and six seats, respectively.
Rajasthan
In Rajasthan, the BJP held a 14-seat advantage against the Congress's 8 seats.
Bihar
The BJP-JD(U)-LJP(R) combination looked to be holding a commanding lead over the RJD-Congress-Left alliance in Bihar.
The ruling party was leading in 31 of the 40 seats, according to EC data. They had secured 39 seats in 2019.
