Lucknow: Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has taken a major decision to prevent boat accidents in the state. The government has decided that all boats in the state will be painted with light yellow colour and will be given a registration number. The government has also issued a number of guidelines to the sailors in view of the rising boat accidents in the province. This will make it easier to avoid accidents.

The rescue and relief commissioner of UP, Mr. S. Priyadarshini has issued a notification that every boat in the state will be painted yellow and a maximum boundary line will be made across which it cannot sail. Boats and sailors will be registered at Panchayat and District level. Some powers will also be given to the Panchayat. The Panchayat will have the right to conduct surprise inspections of boats and prevent them from carrying more load than capacity.

According to the notification, all sailors will be registered based on their skills in boating. There will be two categories of trained and semi-trained. On the other hand, the panchayat and district administration will send information about bad weather to all registered boats through SMS. Bad weather information will also be provided through public information systems and related institutions.
