Dehradun: Two lakh 59 thousand students of 10th and 12th standards of all government colleges and Uttarakhand Board of Uttarakhand will now be given tablet money and not tablets. According to sources, 12,000 rupees will be sent to the accounts of the concerned students through DBT. It is being said that after the process of purchase of tablets is questioned, the decision has been taken by the Government, it may be announced soon.

It was announced by the State Government to provide tablets to students of 10th and 12th standards of universities, colleges, and Uttarakhand Board. A committee of some officers was constituted by the Government at the government and directorate level to procure it. It was decided that the committee would buy tablets for secondary and higher education students. Tenders were floated by this committee of officers at the level of government and directorate.

Some of the same firms floated tenders, but there were apprehensions of a major scam in tablet purchases at prices of more than Rs 300 crore. After being an election year and the matter was raised in the assembly recently, the government is now preparing to give its money to the students through DBT instead of buying tablets. Sources said the CM is likely to announce it soon in this regard.
