Deadly selfie.., Woman standing on the roadside taking selfie falls into ditch

Dehradun: A woman died after she fell into a deep gorge while taking a selfie near Totaghati on Uttarakhand's Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway (NH-58) late on Tuesday evening. In search of the woman, the police and SDRF team carried out a search operation till midnight. But due to heavy rain, the rescue had to be stopped midway. On Wednesday morning, the woman's body was pulled out of a deep ditch. Police have sent the body for post-mortem and started investigating the matter.  

 

The Saini couple, who were returning from Kedarnath late on Tuesday evening near Totaghati in Devprayag, stayed here for a while. The couple had come from Moradabad to visit Uttarakhand. The woman's husband, Rahul Saini, was standing some distance away. His 27-year-old wife Priyanka was taking a selfie on the roadside. During this time, her balance was disturbed and she fell into the deep ditch. After which the husband immediately reported it to the police.   

Police and SDRF teams rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The couple was returning from Kedarnath after having darshan. The body has been sent to Rishikesh AIIMS for post-mortem after recovery.   After this incident, the family members are crying badly. Police are investigating the case. On July 10, a 29-year-old man from Delhi also died after falling into a ditch while taking a selfie in this place.
