Dehradun: The people of Uttarakhand, which is reeling under price rises and natural calamity, have suffered another setback. Travelling in the state has now become expensive. In Uttarakhand, the fares of passenger vehicles and freight vehicles have gone up by 15 to 25 per cent. Not only this, but the Chardham Yatra has also become expensive. Taxi fares have been increased by 22 per cent and buses operating for Chardham Yatra by 27 per cent. In addition, the fares of three-wheelers have been increased by 15 to 18 per cent. The fares of passenger and freight vehicles have gone up after two years. Earlier, the fare was increased on February 18, 2020.
In addition to this, new rates of fare have also been fixed for e-rickshaws, two-wheelers plying on rent and ambulances. Let us know that the State Transport Authority (STA) met two days ago on the issue of fare hikes. On Friday, the Badal transport headquarters released the new rates of fares for roadways buses, private buses, autos and freight vehicles.
According to the information received, the fare on plain routes for roadways and private buses has been increased from 105 paise to 128 paise and on hilly routes from 150 paise to 183 paise per kilometre. The fare of buses plying on Chardham yatra has been increased from Rs 55 to Rs 70. The fare of city buses will now be increased from Rs 7 to Rs 9 per two kilometres. Going by auto for two kilometres will now have to pay Rs 60 instead of Rs 50. The taxi fare on plain routes has been increased from Rs 14 to Rs 16 per km. At the same time, it has been increased from Rs 16 to Rs 18 per kilometre on hilly routes. The ride in the e-rickshaw will now have to pay a fare of Rs 12 per one kilometre. Four rides are allowed in the e-rickshaw.
