Bhubaneswar: After a one-day pause, the second spell of Covid-19 vaccination drive in the first phase will resume in Odisha today. The Health Department has decided to vaccinate the health workers only in Bhubaneswar today. The exercise will restart in other parts of the State from tomorrow, Health department sources said. The government has aimed at vaccinating over 3.50 lakh health workers during the second spell of the drive which will continue till February 10.
In the first spell, the State achieved 92 percent success in the immunization drive with 1,77,090 being vaccinated against a target of 1,92,555 healthcare workers. The registered beneficiaries who failed to receive the vaccination will be called again to avail the shot in a phased manner, Health Director Bijay Panigrahy said. Registration for the frontline workers under the Revenue and Housing & Urban Development Department has been extended till January 31, he added.
Bhubaneswar city has posted an overall achievement of 105 percent with 9,468 beneficiaries of the targeted 9000 receiving jab in the first leg of the drive. The Health and Family Welfare Department had conducted 303 sessions across the state to inoculate 26,008 health workers. However, 24,719 have been vaccinated so far, Health Department sources said.
As many as 14 districts registered above 100 percent success in the vaccination drive while four districts witnessed less than 60% achievement, sources added. No serious adverse event following immunization has been reported from anywhere in the State.
