On May 23, 2023, actress Vaibhavi Upadhyaya, 32, passed away in a car accident. Vaibhavi was well known for her role as Jasmine in the classic sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. The actress, who enjoys traveling, got into in a car accident in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, with her boyfriend Jay Suresh Gandhi. Vaibhavi's SUV crashed into a canyon at Sidhwan in Kullu's Banjar district. A truck hit Vaibhavi's automobile on a steep slope. 

According to police, the Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai actress tried to get out her vehicle through the window and got a fatal head injury. Sakshi Verma, Superintendent of Police, Kullu, sai “Vaibhavi tried to get out of the vehicle through the window and sustained a head injury which proved fatal. She was rushed to Banjar Civil Hospital where the doctors declared her dead.”

Vaibhavi Upadhyaya's mortal remains were brought to Mumbai for her cremation. The late actress's close industry friends attended her funeral on May 24 in Mumbai. Gautam Rode, Deven Bhojani, Sumeet Raghavan, Jd Majethia, and others from the television company showed their tributes during Vaibhavi's funeral.

Aside from Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Vaibhavi Upadhyaya has appeared in various TV shows, including Kya Qasoor Hai Amla Ka, the digital series Please Find Attached, Deepika Padukone's film Chhapaak, and Timir 2023. She was an established name in the Gujarati theatre scene.
