In Bangalore, there will be a dry spell for Valentine's Day and beyond. From February 14 to 16 and on the 20th, alcohol won't be available for sale in restaurants and bars. The reason behind this restriction is the upcoming by-election.

Liquor Ban during Bangalore  By-election: February 14-17
A liquor ban will be enforced in certain areas of Bangalore from 5 pm on February 14 until 6 am on February 17. This decision comes ahead of the Legislative Council by-election scheduled for February 16 in the Bangalore Teachers Constituency.

District Collector Initiates Alcohol Ban
The district collector for Bangalore  City, Dayananda KA, has initiated a three-day temporary ban on alcohol sales starting from Valentine's Day, February 14. The motive behind this move is to ensure a fair voting process during the Bangalore  Teachers Constituency By-election for the Karnataka Legislative Council in 2024.

Objective of the Ban
The government has imposed the alcohol ban from February 14 to February 17, 2024, aiming to maintain order and fairness during the teachers' by-election. This aligns with Bangalore 's Model Code of Conduct, which remains effective until February 23.

Constituencies Involved
Teachers from seven assembly constituencies in Bangalore city district—Yelahanka, Batarayanpur, Yeshavantpur, Dasarahalli, Mahadevpur, Bangalore South, and Anekal—will participate in the voting process to elect a new representative.

Dry Day in Goa on Valentine's Day
Additionally, Goa will observe a dry day on Valentine's Day, February 14, due to voting for the Assembly Elections 2022 in the state. Netizens have taken to Twitter to express their surprise and shock regarding this development.
