Ahead of the Asian Games, India's chess player Vantika Agarwal seems to be in great shape. She has played 4 international tournaments in the last 2 months. Meanwhile, she has scored 61 points in the FIDE rating (International Chess Federation). On the basis of this brilliant performance, she has become the third best ranked player in the country. Now only Koneru Humpy and Harika Dronavalli are above Vantika. Humpy is the country's top-ranked female player. Whereas, Harika remains in second place. 

Women Grandmaster Vantika has 2428 rating points, while Harika has 2501 and Humpy has 2567 points. Vantika has also won her third and final IM norm in Budapest and has become the 11th Indian woman to hold the International Master title in chess. She is going to be selected for the Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China. There are high expectations from her in this tournament as well.

Champion in Menorca Open:  Vantika became women's champion in Menorca Open in Spain last month. She also won a bronze medal in the National Women's Championship held at Kohlapur in January 2023 and a gold medal for the Airport Authority of India in February 2023. She played on the first board for India's second team at the 44th Chess Olympiad in 2022 and was also the only Indian player to achieve the IM norm.
