Gyanvapi: Court rejected the 'carbon dating' of the Shivling

Varanasi: A Varanasi court in Uttar Pradesh has ruled on carbon dating of the 'Shivling' found during a survey of the disputed Gyanvapi complex. For so many days, the matter was stuck on whether the structure found in the disputed premises is a Shivling or a fountain. Actually, the Hindu side was calling it a Shivling and on the other hand, the Muslim side was claiming to be a fountain.

Therefore, to find out the truth, the Hindu side had asked the court to do carbon dating of the structure, so that it could be clear how old the figure found in the Gyanvapi complex was and it would have been clear whether it was a Shivling or a fountain as claimed by the Muslim side. The Muslim side had been opposing carbon dating from the beginning. However, the Varanasi court has refused to allow carbon dating of the Shivling, rejecting the demand of the Hindu side. Now the question has become a puzzle again, what is the structure found in Gyanvapi?

What is carbon dating?

Carbon dating is a scientific process, which is commonly used in archaeology to comprehend the age of an object. However, the Gyanvapi Mosque Committee is opposing the plea for carbon dating. In the last hearing, the court had allowed carbon dating's plea. The Hindu side had also described this as its victory. The Varanasi court had earlier heard the Muslim side in connection with the case.

At that time, lawyer Vishnu Jain, representing the Hindu side, had said, "The Muslim side is saying that the Shivling is not part of the suit property and its carbon dating cannot be done." We have presented our explanation on both these points. The court has to decide. Before this important hearing, the reaction of senior RSS member Indresh Kumar has also come to the fore. He said that it will be late, but the truth will come out.
