Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Governor Vishwabhushan Harichandan told the media that he was overjoyed to visit the Durga temple on the first day of Dussehra Navratri celebrations. The governor said that he wants the state and the country to prosper and control the coronavirus. The Governor along with his wife had darshan of Goddess Durga at Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada on Thursday.

He wished the people to celebrate Dussehra festival with great enthusiasm and advised the authorities to provide all facilities to the devotees. The nine-day Sharanavaratri festival has begun with the Governor's visit to the Durga temple. The goddess appeared in the form of Swarnakavachalakrutha to the devotees. The Governor and his wife were received by State Endowments Minister Vellampalli Srinivas, MLA Malladi Vishnu, temple governing body president Pala Sominayadu and EO Bhramaramba.

Arrangements have been made to organize the festival at Indrakeeladri temple in Vijayawada from today (Thursday) till 15th of this month. On behalf of the state government, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will present silk clothes to Kanakadurga Devi on 12th of this month. City Police Commissioner (CP) Battini Srinivasulu and his family came to Indrakeeladri on Wednesday night and presented silk clothes to the goddess.
